Sookmyung Women's University to Showcase STEM Research at UKC 2026

Sookmyung Women's University will participate in the 2026 Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association (KSEA) conference (UKC 2026) in Orlando, Florida, from August 5th to 8th. This move is part of the university's initiative to expand global research collaborations and attract outstanding researchers.

Marking its 120th anniversary, Sookmyung aims to present its engineering and science research capabilities on an international stage and strengthen its network within the science and technology sectors. University President Moon Sook-yeon met with KSEA President Yoon Yong-gyu in March to discuss specific cooperation plans.

The UKC, now in its 39th year, is the largest annual science and technology exchange event for Korean-Americans, organized by KSEA. This year's theme is "From Imagination to Innovation - Into Reality." Sookmyung's delegation will include President Moon, along with various professors, researchers, and graduate students.

On August 7th, Sookmyung will host a forum titled "Proud Sookmyung, Beyond 120; Future Research at Sookmyung Women's University." This session will share the university's direction in fostering female engineering talent and enhancing research influence, building on its 120-year history. President Moon will chair the forum, with co-chairing by Yoon Hye-on, president of the Korea Foundation for Women in Science, Engineering & Technology (WISET).

The forum will explore global joint research opportunities centered around the Pharmacy Research Institute and the Women's Health Research Institute. It will also review the progress of the College of Engineering over its 10-year history and present its educational and research vision for the next decade. President Moon will also join a "University Leadership Forum" on the same afternoon, discussing the paradigm shift AI technology brings to university education, research, and administration, and presenting Sookmyung's differentiated educational strategies.
