'Spider-Man 4' Becomes Fastest Film to Top 3 Million Viewers in South Korea

Marvel Cinematic Universe's latest installment, "Spider-Man 4: Brand New Day," has shattered box office records in South Korea, becoming the fastest film of the year to reach 3 million admissions. The movie drew 3,384,155 viewers within its first five days of release, which began on June 29th.

Internationally, the film also made a significant impact. In North America, where it opened two days later on June 31st, "Spider-Man 4" secured the second-highest opening weekend in history, grossing $355 million. This figure was only $2 million shy of the all-time record held by "Avengers: Endgame" in 2019, surpassing the opening weekend totals for previous "Spider-Man" and "Amazing Spider-Man" series.

The film's narrative follows Peter Parker (Tom Holland) navigating his life as a hero after being forgotten by MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon), and losing his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei). The story explores his loneliness and continued commitment to heroism.

This week's box office is set for a heated competition with the domestic release of Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer" on July 5th, which is already closely challenging "Spider-Man 4" in IMAX pre-sale bookings. Meanwhile, the Korean blockbuster "Hope" recently surpassed 4 million viewers, and the animated sequel "Hatchipling: Legend of the Great Jewel" is positioned third in pre-sale rankings.
