Soongsil University venture company YBİZ Co. begins modernization of Laos' livestock industry

YBİZ Co., a venture company incubated at Soongsil University's Venture and Small Business Center, is embarking on a significant initiative to modernize livestock farming in Laos. The company is launching a pilot project, or Proof of Concept (PoC), that integrates RFID-based individual animal management with AI-driven estrus detection technology.

The project's core components include registering cattle using RFID electronic tags for comprehensive history tracking, verifying individual animal information via PDA terminals, establishing a livestock feeding management program, and employing CCTV and AI to detect estrus behaviors in cattle. YBİZ Co. will also provide training to local personnel on operating the new digital systems. This comprehensive approach aims to address current limitations in livestock management, which often rely on visual observation, thereby enhancing the efficiency of individual and breeding management.

Supported by the Global Digital Innovation Network (GDIN) as part of its '2026 AI and Digital Transformation Innovation Company Overseas Demonstration Support Project,' the pilot is scheduled to run until December. During this period, YBİZ Co. will focus on system operation, data collection, user training, and performance analysis. The company is collaborating with key Laotian entities, including the National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute (NAFRI) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the College of Agriculture at the National University of Laos, and local livestock farmers and related organizations.

YBİZ Co. CEO Jeong Seung-baek highlighted the project's importance as a crucial step in applying domestically developed digital livestock technology to Laos' real-world farming environment and verifying its practical applicability. He expressed a commitment to working closely with local institutions to establish a digital livestock management model that boosts productivity and efficiency for Laotian farmers. Saysavanh Phomeviengsay, deputy director of NAFRI, indicated plans to expand this technology to livestock farms across Laos following the successful completion of the PoC.
