South African APC Chairman commends Tinubu's state police initiative

Dr. Oluwatosin Ademola Ojo, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in South Africa's Mpumalanga Province, lauded Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's dedication to creating state police forces. Ojo, a medical practitioner and diaspora APC leader, described the move as a significant step toward bolstering Nigeria's internal security.

He believes state police will enhance the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies in combating widespread insecurity. To ensure the initiative's success, Ojo insisted that funding for state police must be a top priority, guaranteeing a stable financial source for personnel, training, logistics, and operations. This consistent funding, he argued, is crucial for maintaining professionalism, efficiency, and independence.

Ojo also urged state governors to prioritize the welfare of state police personnel through competitive salaries, modern equipment, and continuous training. He cautioned against using state police for political intimidation, emphasizing that their success hinges on responsible leadership, adequate funding, professionalism, and adherence to the rule of law. He expressed confidence that state police would improve grassroots intelligence gathering, community policing, and ultimately reduce crime across Nigeria, urging citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement.
