South Korea Approves High-Speed Rail Link to New Daegu Airport, Slashing Travel Time

A crucial infrastructure project aimed at enhancing connectivity to South Korea's new Daegu-Gyeongbuk integrated airport has cleared a significant hurdle. The Daegu-Gyeongbuk Metropolitan Railway construction project has successfully passed its preliminary feasibility study, paving the way for improved transportation links in the region.

The primary objective of this railway line is to drastically reduce travel time to the airport. Currently, reaching the new airport from Seodaegu Station takes approximately 62 minutes. However, once the metropolitan railway is operational, this journey is projected to be slashed to a mere 25 minutes, marking a substantial improvement in accessibility for travelers and commuters.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport confirmed the project's passage on August 26th, stating that it has secured the necessary business feasibility. The railway will span a total of 70.06 kilometers, connecting Seodaegu Station to Uiseong Station on the Jungang Line. This development is expected to boost the economic viability and utility of the new airport by making it more convenient to reach.
