South Korea finalizes 21-player squad for FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup

The South Korean U-20 women's national football team has confirmed its final 21-player squad for the upcoming FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Poland. Coach Park Yoon-jung's team secured their spot in the tournament by reaching the semifinals of the AFC U-20 Women's Asian Cup held in Bangkok.

This will be South Korea's eighth appearance in the U-20 Women's World Cup, marking their third consecutive participation. The team's highest achievement was a third-place finish in the 2010 German edition, where they defeated Colombia in the third-place playoff. In the most recent 2024 tournament held in Colombia, the team reached the Round of 16.

The final squad includes Nam Seung-eun, who has also been called up to the senior national team, alongside 16 collegiate players and 4 high school students. Nam Seung-eun, Jung Da-hee, and Cho Hye-young are returning players from the 2024 U-20 Women's World Cup.

The tournament, featuring 24 nations, will take place in Poland from August 5 to 27. The team will convene for final training in Cheonan before departing for Poland on August 25. South Korea is set to play its opening group stage match against France on September 6, followed by games against Ghana on September 9 and Ecuador on September 13.

Coach Park Yoon-jung expressed his determination, stating, "The World Cup is a stage that cannot be easily experienced, so we will aim to play as many games as possible by doing our best in every match." He added, "Above all, I will do my best so that the players can advance to the senior national team through this World Cup."
