South Korea's U-17 women's national volleyball team has made history by reaching the Round of 16 at the World Championship for the first time. The team clinched their historic advancement by defeating the Dominican Republic 3-1 in their fourth group stage match. This victory capped off a perfect 4-0 record in Group D, securing their place in the knockout stage regardless of their final group match result. This marks a significant milestone, as it is the team's debut appearance in this prestigious international competition. Leading the charge for the South Korean squad are standout players Son Seo-yeon and Lee Seo-in, whose strong on-court chemistry has earned them the nickname 'Seo Seo' combo. Son Seo-yeon, an outside hitter standing at 182 cm, was the top scorer of the match with 23 points, contributing significantly to the team's attack. She also leads the tournament in total points scored with 91 across the group stage. Lee Seo-in, a left-handed setter, effectively distributed the ball to various attackers, including Jang Su-in and Eo Min-seo, disrupting the opponent's defense. Middle blockers Lee Da-yeon and Choi Min-ju also made crucial contributions with their blocking and serving. The team, which aims to reach the semifinals, is competing against 24 teams in the tournament, with the top four from each group advancing to the next round.
