South Korea president proposes talks with North to end Korean War

The Embassy of India in Muscat celebrated India's 80th Independence Day with significant patriotic fervor and community participation. Over a thousand members of the Indian diaspora and friends of India gathered at the Embassy premises for the event.

The ceremony began with a rendition of the Indian National Song, "Vande Mataram," performed by students from Indian School Al Maabela. Ambassador Prashant Pise then unfurled the Indian Tricolour under the theme "Surya Path Tiranga," a Government of India initiative involving a global digital relay of the flag as part of the Independence Day 2026 celebrations.

Ambassador Pise addressed the attendees, sharing key excerpts from the President of India's Address to the Nation, reflecting on India's journey and future aspirations. A cultural program showcasing diverse talents from the Indian community in Oman was presented. The event also acknowledged the significant contributions of the Indian workforce in Oman, recognizing their role in strengthening India-Oman ties.

In the lead-up to the 80th Independence Day, the Embassy organized several activities, including a painting competition, quiz competitions, a photography contest titled "India Through My Lens," a Phad Painting Workshop, and the "My India, My Story" initiative, inspired by the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. Winners and outstanding participants were felicitated, along with students from the Science India Forum and other distinguished achievers from Indian schools in Oman.

The celebrations brought together various segments of the Indian community in Oman, including young achievers, artists, students, media personalities, professionals, and the Indian workforce, all united by their shared national pride. The Embassy extended warm greetings and best wishes to all Indians in Oman and worldwide on this occasion.
