South Korea's U-17 Women's Volleyball Team Secures Third Straight World Championship Win Against Italy

South Korea's U-17 women's volleyball team, the reigning Asian champions, continued their strong performance at the 2026 FIVB U-17 World Championship by defeating Italy 3-1. The victory in Chile secured their third consecutive win in the group stage, solidifying their first-place standing in Group D with a perfect nine points.

The match saw South Korea overcome Italy's height advantage, where they were significantly out-blocked 7-16. However, the Italian team's 28 errors proved costly, allowing South Korea to secure the win with set scores of 25-14, 25-19, 13-25, and 25-20.

Outside hitter Son Seo-yeon, dubbed 'Little Kim Yeon-koung,' led the offensive charge, scoring a remarkable 23 points, the highest in the match. Teammate Seo Min-seo contributed significantly with 17 points, including four aces from her serves.

South Korea earned their spot in this world championship after winning the U-16 Asian Championship last year. The tournament features 24 teams divided into four groups, with the top four from each group advancing to the knockout stage. South Korea is scheduled to play its remaining group matches against the Dominican Republic and Algeria.
