South Korea has cemented its position as the third-leading nation in the global artificial intelligence race, firmly behind the United States and China. This achievement is underscored by the strong performance of domestic AI foundation models in international evaluations, signaling a maturing and increasingly competitive AI ecosystem.

Korea has once again established a clear 3rd place in the global AI competition after the U.S. and China.

According to Artificial Analysis, a global AI performance evaluation body, South Korean models have consistently surpassed the 30-point mark on the Analysis Intelligence Index (AAII). This comprehensive index assesses AI capabilities across nine categories, including reasoning, instruction following, and coding. Motif AI's 'Motif 3' led the domestic charge with a score of 47, closely followed by Upstage's 'Solar Pro 4' at 42. SK Telecom's 'A.X K2' and LG AI Research's 'K-Exaone 2.0' also demonstrated strong performance, scoring 35 and 31 points, respectively.

Notably, 'Motif 3' and 'Solar Pro 4' achieved the highest scores among models developed outside the U.S. and China. Artificial Analysis highlighted the continuous expansion and deepening competitiveness of South Korea's AI development landscape, noting significant growth compared to the previous year.
