South Korean attacker Kim Min-soo joins Spanish club Girona's first team

Kim Min-soo, a 20-year-old South Korean forward, has officially joined the first team of Spanish club Girona, mirroring the path of fellow countryman Lee Kang-in who recently moved to Atlético Madrid.

Kim joined Girona's U-19 squad in 2022 and progressed to the B team. He earned a call-up to the senior squad in 2024 due to player injuries, making his professional debut in the Spanish second division. He became the eighth South Korean player to feature in Spain's top leagues.

His career highlights include making his first full 90-minute appearance in the Copa del Rey and debuting in the UEFA Champions League. Notably, he became the second-youngest player after Lee Kang-in to experience the Champions League at just 18 years old. However, La Liga's strict limit on non-EU players meant he couldn't stay with Girona's first team long-term.

He was subsequently loaned to Andorra in the second division for the 2025-2026 season, where he impressed with 6 goals and 4 assists in 40 appearances. This performance has led to his re-registration with Girona's first team for the upcoming season, signaling a promising future.

Kim, primarily a winger who can also play as a striker, has drawn attention from several European clubs, including French side Lyon, as well as Fenerbahçe of Turkey, Ajax of the Netherlands, and Rangers of Scotland. Girona, recently relegated to the second division, is set to begin its new season on the 17th, aiming for promotion back to La Liga.
