South Korean Firefighters Rescue Elderly Man in Critical Condition

A 70-year-old man in Gumi, South Korea, has been rescued and revived after being trapped under a vehicle and suffering cardiac arrest. The incident occurred early Tuesday morning when the man was struck by a car and pinned beneath it.

Emergency services were immediately alerted. Responding firefighters from the Gumi Fire Station's 119 Rescue and Ambulance Center utilized specialized equipment, including hydraulic tools and vehicle recovery airbags, to swiftly extricate the man from his precarious situation.

At the time of rescue, the man was in cardiac arrest. The rescue team promptly initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and continued life-saving measures as they transported him to the hospital. Remarkably, he regained spontaneous circulation during the ambulance journey, a critical sign of recovery.

Jo Yu-hyeon, head of the Gumi Fire Station, emphasized the significance of the swift and precise actions taken by the on-site rescue and ambulance crews. He stated that the patient's recovery of spontaneous circulation was a direct result of their rapid response. Jo Yu-hyeon affirmed the department's commitment to enhancing its emergency response capabilities to ensure the safety and lives of citizens in any disaster situation.
