South Korean Government Announces Numerous Personnel Appointments and Promotions

The National Assembly Secretariat has announced a series of appointments and promotions, signaling shifts in key administrative and legislative research positions. Among the notable promotions are to the grade of deputy director-general, affecting roles within the Secretariat itself, as well as legislative liaison officers for the Trade, Industry, Energy, SMEs and Startups Committee and the Steering Committee.

Further appointments include new section chiefs for Personnel, Records, Broadcasting Technical Affairs, and International Affairs, with several officials also being reassigned to different posts. Legislative liaison officers have been appointed to various committees, including Culture, Sports and Tourism; Trade, Industry, Energy, SMEs and Startups; Legislation and Judiciary; and Strategy and Finance.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also made significant appointments, naming new ambassadors to Germany, Slovakia, and Ireland, alongside a special envoy for international cyber cooperation. Within the ministry, new section chiefs have been appointed for departments covering Asia-Pacific affairs, Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, Latin America, Western Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Other new section chiefs will oversee human rights and social affairs, international development, cultural exchange, digital public diplomacy, economic agreements, East Asian economic diplomacy, and international science and technology norms.

Additionally, the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs has appointed a new director-general for veteran organization cooperation. The Ministry of Economy and Finance has promoted an official to director-general for welfare and safety budget review and appointed new section chiefs. The Cultural Heritage Administration has also announced new director-general appointments for historical sites, natural heritage, and intangible heritage, along with new section chiefs for its spokesperson's office and architectural heritage.
