South Korean Police Official Under Investigation for Abuse and Harassment Faces First In-Person Questioning

A high-ranking police official in South Korea, nicknamed 'Geojedo King,' is finally facing in-person questioning after more than 40 days of investigation into allegations of sexual harassment and abuse of power. The official, identified only as Superintendent K, has worked in the Gyeongnam region for over 30 years and allegedly used his position to mistreat subordinates.

Reports indicate that Superintendent K is accused of sexually harassing female officers during company gatherings and forcing junior staff to pay for his expenses, such as alcohol, under the guise of promotion rewards. He is also alleged to have verbally abused the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency chief after being reassigned to a different area earlier this year.

The police agency initiated a high-level investigation in early July and placed Superintendent K on administrative leave. Investigators have been gathering information from colleagues who worked with him. This marks the first time he has been directly questioned by the agency since the probe began.
