South Korean President Lee Jae-myung held a private dinner meeting with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, marking their second encounter in about a month following the AI Summit in San Francisco. While the presidential office declined to confirm details of the undisclosed meeting, industry sources indicate that discussions likely centered on investment issues in advanced industries, with a particular focus on the semiconductor sector.

The meeting comes at a time when the South Korean government is promoting major "mega-projects" involving key semiconductor firms like SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics. It is highly probable that the two leaders discussed investment plans and project progress related to these initiatives.

Speculation is also rife that the conversation touched upon investment negotiations with the United States. The current U.S. administration has been increasing pressure on South Korean companies, including Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, to invest in semiconductor manufacturing within the U.S.

Industry observers anticipate that this meeting with Chey Tae-won may be the first in a series of engagements President Lee plans to have with the heads of major South Korean conglomerates, including Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo.
