Spain's preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup final against Argentina have been met with a slight concern as winger Lamine Yamal missed the team's first training session in New Jersey. Yamal was not the only notable absence; Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro also sat out the session. However, according to Spanish sports daily AS, both players are still anticipated to be available for selection when Spain faces Argentina in the final match. The World Cup is nearing its climax, and both finalists are keen to avoid any last-minute injury setbacks that could impact their pursuit of the trophy.

Spain has been dealing with several injury concerns. Winger Yeremy Pino sustained a collarbone injury during a group-stage match, which was later diagnosed as an acromioclavicular sprain, making his return for the final unlikely. Midfielder Victor Munoz, a new signing for Liverpool, has been sidelined with a calf injury sustained before the tournament, compounded by an additional muscular injury that rules him out of the final.

Argentina is also managing its own injury issues, particularly in defense. Facundo Medina suffered a calf injury during the Round of 32 and has not played since. If Medina cannot recover in time, Nicolas Tagliafico is expected to continue at left-back, having performed well during Argentina's knockout stage matches. Despite Yamal's training absence, reports suggest that neither he nor Porro is expected to miss the final, offering coach Luis de la Fuente hope of fielding a near full-strength squad against Lionel Scaloni's Argentina.
