Alauda Ruiz de Azúa's Spanish film "The Sundays," a critical darling and multiple Goya Award winner, is now playing in Croatian cinemas. The film, which also secured the Golden Shell for best film at the San Sebastián Film Festival, has captivated audiences and critics alike.

"The Sundays" centers on 17-year-old Ainara, who stands at a crossroads, contemplating her future university path. While her family anticipates a traditional academic route, Ainara feels a profound pull towards the contemplative life of a nun. The film's international jury at the 19th Mediterranean Film Festival Split lauded "The Sundays" as an "exceptionally subtle and emotionally precise portrayal of the conflict between personal freedom and family expectations, which opens universal questions of identity, belonging, and the right to one's own choice." The World Catholic Association for Communication also recognized the film, praising its "exceptional artistic quality, delicate direction, anthropological depth of characters, and excellent use of audiovisual and narrative expression."
