Spanish Football Federation working to renew coach Luis de la Fuente's contract

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) is actively pursuing a contract renewal for national team coach Luis de la Fuente, who has achieved significant success. De la Fuente guided Spain to triumph in the 2023 UEFA Nations League, the 2024 European Championship, and the 2026 World Cup, marking a period of dominance for Spanish football.

RFEF President Rafael Louzán confirmed the federation's intention to extend De la Fuente's contract, stating, "He deserves it, we are working on it." De la Fuente's current deal is set to expire in 2028, the same year as the next European Championship. His leadership has seen Spain secure their second World Cup title, achieving this feat undefeated, 16 years after their first World Cup win.

During the World Cup campaign, Spain conceded only one goal. The team also secured individual accolades, with Rodri named the Golden Ball winner, Pau Cubarsí recognized as the Best Young Player, and Unai Simón receiving the Golden Glove award. The team's upcoming fixtures include matches against England and Croatia in the UEFA Nations League in September and October.
