Spanish media: Barcelona nearing deal for Oleg Balcerowski

FC Barcelona is reportedly nearing a deal to sign Polish center Oleg Balcerowski from Unicaja Malaga, according to Spanish media outlets.

Balcerowski, a 2.16-meter tall player, has emerged as a prominent figure for Malaga, earning the nickname "man of trophies" for his success with the Spanish team, with the exception of the Liga Endesa title. His presence has attracted significant interest from Barcelona, with advanced negotiations suggesting a potential agreement could be reached soon.

The Andalusian newspaper "Sur," cited by "AS," reports that negotiations have progressed substantially, fostering optimism for a swift completion of the transfer. If the move materializes, Balcerowski would become Barcelona's sixth acquisition during the current summer transfer window.

Balcerowski began his Liga Endesa career with Gran Canaria, spending six years there before moving to Panathinaikos Athens. With the Greek club, he won the EuroLeague in 2024. Despite this significant achievement, he did not secure consistent trust from coach Ergin Ataman and left Panathinaikos last summer to join Malaga. He recently extended his contract with Unicaja until 2028 and is currently the highest-paid player on their roster.

Barcelona is also continuing its planning for the new season, with the expected announcement of Sasa Sekulic as the new coach.
