Spanish producer Manuel Cristóbal to lead workshops and special screening in Asunción

Spanish film producer Manuel Cristóbal is set to engage with the audiovisual community in Asunción through a series of events on June 16 as part of the international CreaSur program. Hosted at the Centro Cultural de España Juan de Salazar, the day's agenda features training sessions for industry professionals and a special screening of the animated film "Buñuel in the Labyrinth of Turtles."

The central event begins at 6:30 PM with the exhibition of "Buñuel in the Labyrinth of Turtles." This animated feature, directed by Salvador Simó, delves into the making of Luis Buñuel's 1930s documentary "Las Hurdes." Following the screening, Cristóbal, known for his work on acclaimed animations like "Wrinkles" and "Buñuel in the Labyrinth of Turtles," will participate in a discussion. His career boasts five Goya Awards in the animation category, and he has also served as an advisor for the audiovisual industry in the Community of Madrid.

The activities are part of CreaSur, an initiative that brings together audiovisual professionals and projects from Paraguay and Ibero-America in Asunción. Beyond providing guidance for selected productions, the program includes conferences and meetings focused on distribution, communication, financing, co-production, and international markets. Throughout the week, the Centro Cultural de España Juan de Salazar will host further learning opportunities. These include discussions on international distribution, integrating communication into project development, identifying financing opportunities, co-production strategies, and marketing for international launches. Cristóbal will also analyze the current global film market landscape.
