Spanish woman chooses Romania for a new life: five reasons that convinced her to move

Sara Senent, a young woman from Spain who now lives in Romania, has given five reasons for choosing the country as the place to build a new life. She pointed to the cost of living, Romania’s position in Europe, opportunities for people who work online, its natural scenery and the personal challenge of starting over.

Her first reason was affordability. Compared with cities such as Madrid, Senent considers Romania much cheaper, even though some everyday prices can be similar. In her view, Romania offers more affordable options, something she notices by the end of the month.

She also values the country’s location. Being in Europe allows her to travel relatively easily to other countries while also giving her the chance to discover more of Romania. “At last, you are in Europe and you have many countries relatively close by that you can travel to,” she said.

For people who work online, Senent described Romania as an interesting base. She singled out Cluj, which she said has a large international community, along with many cafés and co-working spaces. She also praised the infrastructure available to remote workers.

Nature was another major attraction. “Nature here in Romania tells you that it is from another planet,” Senent said. She mentioned the country’s mountains, forests, lakes and animals, as well as the landscapes and people she has encountered.

Her final reason was personal. Moving to Romania gave her the chance to begin from zero in a completely different country, learn another language, meet people from around the world and leave her comfort zone.
