This strong opening places it among the top ten most-watched films of 2026 in the country, outperforming titles like "Moana" and "The Revelation Day," which had longer runs in theaters.

According to figures from the National Chamber of the Cinematographic Industry (Canacine), the latest Spider-Man adventure grossed over 256 million pesos by Sunday night. While this figure is half of what its predecessor, "Spider-Man: No Way Home," earned during its entire theatrical run, the current film's opening weekend performance is exceptionally strong. Projections indicate that by Monday, the film starring Tom Holland could surpass 6 million tickets sold, potentially overtaking "Super Mario Galaxy" for the highest first-weekend attendance of the year.

The film's opening numbers are comparable to those of "Michael" and "The Devil Wears Prada 2," which achieved similar attendance figures but over twice the time frame. The narrative of "Across the Spider-Verse" picks up four years after "No Way Home," with Peter Parker having made the difficult decision to ensure everyone forgets his identity. This has led to challenges such as his beloved MJ starting new relationships and him facing villains like Scorpio without his usual support system.

Currently, "Toy Story 5" leads as the most-watched film of 2026 with 17 million viewers, followed by "Super Mario Galaxy" with over 15 million.
