Spider-Man film becomes the fourth highest-grossing movie in history

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has become the fourth highest-grossing film in history after adding another $68 million worldwide in the past week, according to Box Office Mojo data cited by EFE.

The Tom Holland superhero film has now earned $2.332 billion globally. Only Avatar, Avengers: Endgame and Avatar: The Way of Water have made more.

In the United States and Canada, the film has collected $891 million. That figure moved it past Avengers: Endgame, which earned $858 million in the market, leaving Spider-Man behind only Star Wars: The Force Awakens and its $936 million total.

US trade publications expect the film to become the first movie to pass $1 billion in North American revenue. It is already the biggest hit of 2026 by a wide margin. Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey ranks second for the year with $1.552 billion, including $563 million in North America and $988 million elsewhere after seven weeks in theaters.

Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars had a much weaker debut, taking in $19 million worldwide despite opening in 3,330 North American theaters. The film, starring Jacob Elordi and Josh Brolin, scored about 40% on Rotten Tomatoes and a C+ from CinemaScore, results that fell well below expectations for a production with a budget of about $90 million.

Coyote vs. Acme placed second in the United States and Canada with $15.5 million. Warner Bros. canceled the film in 2023 for a tax deduction before Ketchup Entertainment rescued and distributed it this year, Variety reported.
