SPS lawmaker chaired committee behind amendment allowing burned forest land to be repurposed, SRCE says

Stefan Janjić, secretary-general of the Serbia Center party, says an SPS lawmaker heads the parliamentary committee that proposed an amendment allowing forest land destroyed by fires to be repurposed.

Janjić identified the committee chair as Uglješa Marković of the Socialist Party of Serbia. He questioned the timing of the amendment, writing on X that the committee chair said at 12:11 that the proposal was already on the e-Parliament system, while the amendment had not been submitted to the registry until 12:27.

Janjić also criticised the interruption of parliamentary debate when lawmakers reached the Law on Planning and Construction. He said the halt meant the amendment could not be discussed.

It is interesting that the committee chair said at 12:11 that the amendment proposal was on the e-Parliament system, while the amendment was submitted to the registry only at 12:27.

He further referred to remarks by Minister Dačić, who said irresponsible individuals were spreading lies and conspiracy theories about construction on land destroyed in the Deliblato Sands. Janjić asked whom Dačić had meant.

The SRCE official also mentioned former SPS member Branko Ružić, who had warned on Aug. 21 about the possibility that destroyed land in Deliblato Sands could be repurposed instead of restored. Janjić suggested that some might conclude Ružić had been expelled from the party because of that warning.

It is even more interesting that National Assembly President Ana Brnabić interrupted the debate on amendments when it reached the Law on Planning and Construction, so discussion of the amendment was not possible.
