Squalls and Thunderstorms Expected Across Six Regions of Bangladesh

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a forecast predicting squalls and thunderstorms across six regions of the country. Winds are expected to reach speeds of 45-60 kmph, originating from the south or southeast.

The affected regions include Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Chattogram, and Cox's Bazar. In response to the anticipated weather conditions, inland river ports have been instructed to hoist cautionary signal 1. This advisory is in effect from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm today, August 25th.

Furthermore, a low-pressure area that previously moved over the northwest Bay of Bengal has now shifted, currently situated over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas. This system is influencing maritime ports, the north Bay, and coastal regions of Bangladesh. Consequently, the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra are advised to keep local cautionary signal 3 hoisted. All fishing boats and trawlers operating in the north Bay are urged to remain close to the coast and exercise caution until further notice.
