SRCE: Investigate Rističević's Claims of Diversions on Belgrade-Novi Sad Railway

The Srbija centar (SRCE) party has formally called upon Serbia's top law enforcement and intelligence agencies to thoroughly investigate serious allegations concerning potential sabotage on the crucial Belgrade-Novi Sad railway line. The party's demand stems from statements made by Marijan Rističević, a Member of Parliament from the ruling coalition, who claimed that opposition parties are involved in stealing railway components with the intent to cause accidents and subsequently frame the government.

SRCE's press release highlights the gravity of Rističević's claims, pointing out that such acts, if true, could constitute terrorism. The party insists that prosecutors, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Security Information Agency (BIA) must immediately question Rističević to ascertain the basis of his information. Furthermore, SRCE questions why Rističević allegedly withheld this critical information from the police and BIA, given that such knowledge could have prevented potential loss of life, as hundreds of people travel on these trains daily.

Adding to the urgency, SRCE also called for a public statement from the relevant authorities, drawing a parallel to the public statements made by the Director of the Military Security Agency (VBA) regarding explosives found near Kanjiža. The party wants to know if the agencies possess any intelligence linking opposition parties to these alleged acts of sabotage. Crucially, SRCE demands to know if legal action will be taken against Rističević for spreading false news and inciting panic if his claims are proven unfounded.
