Sri Lankan Health Minister inspects modern medical equipment factory

Sri Lanka's Minister of Health and Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayathissa, recently inspected the state-of-the-art medical equipment manufacturing plant of Flexicare Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. located in the Raigama area of Bandaragama.

Flexicare Lanka, a fully affiliated subsidiary of the United Kingdom's Flexicare Group, is recognized as a leading institution in Sri Lanka for producing medical devices and consumables that meet international standards. The company plays a crucial role in strengthening the country's medical manufacturing sector, facilitating foreign investment, technology transfer, and boosting the export economy.

The modern factory, completed and operationalized during the challenging COVID-19 pandemic, has become a vital hub for producing a range of high-quality medical equipment. These include oxygen masks, nasal cannulas, nebulizer kits, and devices for anesthesia and respiratory treatments, which are supplied to the global market.

This facility represents a significant foreign direct investment of over US$15 million in Sri Lanka. It is considered the first instance of establishing such an international-standard medical equipment manufacturing facility within the country, highlighting Sri Lanka's growing capabilities in the specialized manufacturing sector.
