Stampeders seek to rein in Roughriders’ offence

Lions. Quarterback Trevor Harris showcased his capabilities with 417 passing yards and three touchdown passes, notably connecting with receivers Samuel Emilus, Kian Schaffer-Baker, and KeeSean Johnson, who collectively amassed over 700 receiving yards.

I’ve always kind of prided myself on being an all-weather quarterback, especially in the rain. If you have high-level winds, that’s what really kind of affects games. But for me, throwing into the rain is really not an issue.

Harris expressed confidence in his ability to perform regardless of weather conditions, stating that rain is not an issue for him, though high winds could affect play. The Roughriders' offensive success was particularly notable given that all three key receivers were healthy and available for the season opener, a rarity last season due to injuries that sidelined Schaffer-Baker, Emilus, and Johnson for significant periods.

The Calgary Stampeders, meanwhile, are seeking to rebound after a narrow 30-28 loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, which was decided by a late field goal. The team had a bye week to analyze the game and prepare for the Roughriders. Quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. highlighted the importance of learning from their previous game, particularly a late-game drive that ultimately fell short. Calgary also focused on special teams during their bye week, aiming to improve their punt return defense after it was exploited in their season opener.
