State Inspectorate Halts Another Zagreb Construction Site

Zagreb's construction projects face further disruption as the State Inspectorate has suspended work at another significant site.

Following a previous halt at the intersection of Savska Road and Vukovar Street, the inspectorate confirmed to Večernji list that construction has also been stopped at a site in Zvonimir Street. The inspection covered a section of Zvonimir Street from Trg žrtava fašizma to Vjekoslava Heinzel Street, as well as the aforementioned intersections.

Based on the established factual situation, a measure to suspend construction was made by placing an official sign and tape at the construction site.

According to the State Inspectorate, the construction sites exhibited irregularities related to violations of the Construction Act. Specifically, the law mandates that construction sites must be secured and fenced to ensure the safety of passersby and prevent unauthorized access. The inspectorate has posted official signs and tape at the sites to enforce the suspension of construction activities.

The inspectorate stated that the investigation is ongoing to determine all circumstances surrounding the work. The suspended projects include the renovation of the main water supply pipeline and tram infrastructure at the Savska and Vukovar intersection, and the renewal of the tram line in Zvonimir Street. The Zvonimir Street works, which began on June 15 and are scheduled to finish on September 7, involve replacing old tram tracks, installing a new concrete base, and modernizing the fastening system to reduce noise and vibrations. A tram turnout renewal is also planned for the intersection of Zvonimir and Šubićeve streets from July 15 to August 15.
