Stefanos Tsitsipas eliminated from Winston-Salem Open

Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas has been eliminated from the Winston-Salem Open after a straight-sets loss to American Aleksandar Kovacevic in the round of 16. The final score was 6-3, 7-6, with Kovacevic advancing to the quarterfinals.

Tsitsipas struggled throughout the match, displaying a mediocre performance, especially in the first set where Kovacevic capitalized on opportunities to take an early lead. Although Tsitsipas attempted a comeback in the second set, creating break point chances, he was unable to secure the crucial break needed to gain control.

The second set proceeded to a tiebreak, where Kovacevic dominated, securing a 4-0 lead and eventually closing out the match on his first match point. Kovacevic celebrated his victory, booking a spot in the quarterfinals.

Despite recording 28 winners and 16 aces, Tsitsipas also committed 25 unforced errors, contributing to his exit from the tournament. This defeat comes just days before the start of the US Open, marking a disappointing end to his Winston-Salem campaign.
