A rare reunion between martial arts star Shi Xiaolong and acclaimed filmmaker Stephen Chow has captured the attention of fans. Shi Xiaolong recently visited the set of Chow's latest directorial effort, "Kung Fu Cheerleaders," which has already achieved significant box office success in China, surpassing 2.1 billion RMB.

The encounter marked a reunion 30 years in the making. Their paths first crossed in 1995 when a then seven-year-old Shi Xiaolong, already a burgeoning kung fu child star, visited the set of Chow's film "Out of the Dark." The two posed for a photo together during that visit.

During the recent set visit, facilitated by Shi's friend and "Kung Fu Cheerleaders" action choreographer Qin Pengfei, Chow recognized Shi Xiaolong almost instantly. When Shi mentioned his childhood visit to Chow's set, the filmmaker recalled the specific movie, "Out of the Dark." This moment of recognition and shared memory created a warm, nostalgic atmosphere.

While the reunion sparked speculation about Shi Xiaolong potentially joining the film, either in a cameo or as an action director, official sources clarified that his visit was purely a friendly one. He did not participate in the film's shooting or join the cast. The reunion, though brief, has led fans to ponder why the two have never officially collaborated, with some suggesting their established personas might not align with Chow's signature style of underdog protagonists.
