Storm Cleanup: Lithuanian Firefighters Respond to 101 Incidents in 24 Hours

Lithuania's emergency services were kept busy over the last 24 hours, responding to 101 calls related to storm damage. The Kaunas region experienced the brunt of the severe weather, with firefighters working tirelessly to clear the aftermath.

Crews were deployed to remove fallen trees from roadways, with around 50 trees cleared in the Šakiai district alone. In Kaišiadorys, firefighters provided assistance after a roof was torn off by the storm. The Kėdainiai district also saw trees removed from roads, and responders dealt with a wasp nest. In Kaunas city, a fallen tree disrupted power lines, while another damaged apartment balconies and windows after falling onto a residential building.

In one instance in Vilemų village, Kaunas district, firefighters were unable to remove a tree that had fallen onto an outbuilding due to the structure's precarious condition. They issued safety warnings to residents. The article notes that this simplified version was prepared using artificial intelligence, a tool developed by scientists from Vytautas Magnus University in collaboration with the news agency ELTA.
