Storm Clouds Gather Over Vilnius: Thunder Roars, Lightning Flashes

Vilnius was hit by a powerful thunderstorm on Saturday, bringing dramatic weather conditions to the capital. Residents took to social media to share striking images and videos of the storm, describing intense lightning, very strong winds, and heavy rainfall.

One resident near Riešė reported that the "earth is mixing with the sky," indicating the severity of the storm. The Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service confirmed that an atmospheric front was moving across the country, bringing turbulent weather.

According to meteorologist Edita Gečaitė, the forecast for the coming days includes continued short rains with thunderstorms in many regions. Wind gusts are expected to reach 15–18 m/s during thunderstorms, and some areas may even experience hail. Temperatures are predicted to be cooler than previous days, with highs ranging from 23–28 degrees Celsius, and 20–22 degrees in western regions.
