Strawberry Expo Opens in Areguá with Diverse Offerings

Areguá, Paraguay, is buzzing with the vibrant colors and sweet aromas of its annual Strawberry Expo, which opened its doors this Saturday. The event, a celebration of local agriculture and entrepreneurship, offers a diverse array of strawberry-infused delights to visitors.

Producers are showcasing everything from freshly harvested strawberries sold by the kilo to an enticing selection of natural juices. The expo also features a tempting array of derivative products, including pastries, jams, liqueurs, cakes, and the particularly popular "morango do Amor." Artisanal ice creams and decorated cakes also add to the festive atmosphere.

During the official opening ceremony, local authorities and producers gathered to honor outstanding contributors to the strawberry industry. Recognition was given to several producers for their dedication and impact on the cultivation and commercialization of strawberries. Notably, an 89-year-old producer, Doña Josefa Bogarín, received an award, with her son accepting on her behalf due to health reasons. Another producer, Juana Jara de Romero, was also celebrated for her significant role in the development of the Areguá Strawberry Expo.

Norma Hidalgo, Director of Culture for the Municipality of Areguá, expressed deep gratitude to Paraguayan brands supporting the producers and enhancing the market. She extended an invitation to everyone to visit the charming city and enjoy the festivities, emphasizing the positive impact the expo has on local families and businesses. The fair is open daily from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM on La Candelaria, Mcal. Estigarribia, and Patiño streets.
