Strong wind alert issued for parts of Fiji

Fiji is currently under a strong wind alert affecting multiple regions as a southerly wind flow continues to impact the island nation. The Fiji Meteorological Service has issued the warning, urging residents in affected areas to exercise caution.

The alert is in force for the Yasawa Group, a popular tourist destination known for its pristine islands and clear waters. Coastal areas of Rakiraki and Sigatoka, known for their agricultural and tourism activities, are also under the strong wind warning.

Furthermore, the Lau and Lomaiviti island groups, located to the east and southeast of the main island of Viti Levu, are experiencing the effects of the southerly winds. The alert also extends to Taveuni and its surrounding smaller islands, as well as Kadavu and its nearby islets, both significant areas for marine life and local communities.

In addition, the southern parts of Bua province on the island of Vanua Levu are included in the strong wind advisory. Residents and visitors in these areas are advised to stay informed about weather updates and take necessary precautions against the strong winds.
