Stronger infrastructure partnership forged with Kiribati

Fiji and Kiribati are strengthening their cooperation to address common development priorities, with a significant focus on building resilient infrastructure and improving essential services. This enhanced partnership aims to advance sustainable solutions for communities across the Pacific region. The commitment follows a productive meeting between Fiji's Minister for Public Works, Ro Filipe Tuisawau, and Kiribati's Minister for Infrastructure, Tekeeua Tarati. Discussions highlighted the robust relationship between the two island nations, fostering an exchange of ideas on critical areas such as infrastructure development, renewable energy, water security, maritime transport, and overall sustainable development. Fiji shared its advancements in renewable energy, its transition to electric vehicles, sustainable construction methods, and efforts to modernize its maritime sector while reducing emissions.
