Students Demand Arrest of Febrie Adriansyah at Attorney General's Office Protest

Students from Universitas Muhammadiyah Tangerang (UMT) and other universities held a demonstration outside the Attorney General's Office in South Jakarta on Monday, July 20, 2026. The protest, dubbed "Gerakan Jilid II Indonesia Darurat Korupsi" (Movement Part II: Indonesia in a Corruption Emergency), demanded decisive, transparent, and intervention-free law enforcement in the fight against corruption.

During the rally, protesters voiced four key demands: the eradication of corruption without bias, the realization of social, legal, and economic justice, the upholding of independent and professional legal supremacy, and the promotion of clean and integrity-based governance. Some participants wore the alma mater jackets of Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.

Orators on a command vehicle directed criticism at the police present, questioning their role in allegedly protecting corrupt individuals. The name of former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, was specifically mentioned in chants urging police and military personnel not to defend him.

As the demonstration neared its end, some protesters banged on the front gate of the Special Crimes Directorate building, chanting "NKRI bukan harga mati, tapi sebentar lagi akan mati" (The Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia is not a price that is eternal, but will soon die) and repeatedly shouting "Re-vo-lu-si!" (Revolution!). The protest proceeded under police security, with personnel from the Public Order and Mobile Brigade (Brimob) deployed to prevent any physical clashes as demonstrators attempted to approach the main gate.
