Submissions Closing Soon for 22nd Lin Rong San Literary Awards

The Lin Rong San Cultural Public Welfare Foundation, in collaboration with Liberty Times, is nearing the deadline for submissions to the 22nd Lin Rong San Literary Awards. The prestigious competition, aimed at encouraging literary expression and creativity in Taiwan, closes on July 31st.

The awards feature four categories: Short Story, Essay, Poetry, and Prose. The Short Story award offers a first prize of NT$600,000, second prize of NT$300,000, third prize of NT$150,000, and two honorable mentions of NT$60,000 each. The Essay category offers NT$250,000 for first prize, while Poetry and Prose have similarly structured prize money, encouraging a wide range of literary talent.

Eligibility is open to all citizens of the Republic of China (Taiwan). The foundation emphasizes that submitted works must be original and unpublished in any form, including personal blogs or social media, strictly prohibiting plagiarism and ghostwriting, including AI-generated content. Each applicant can submit only one entry per category.

Submissions can be handwritten or printed in Chinese, with specific word counts for short stories (8,000-11,000 characters), essays (3,000-4,000 characters), and prose (under 1,000 characters). Poetry submissions should range from 35 to 50 lines. Winners will be announced in two stages: preliminary selections for Short Story, Essay, and Poetry will be revealed on October 23rd, with final first, second, and third prizes announced at an awards ceremony later.
