Sunday forecast: Southern Taiwan to see showers, northern areas and mountains warned of heavy rain

The Central Weather Administration predicts that the prevailing southwest monsoon will bring abundant moisture, leading to the showers in southern areas. Northern and eastern regions will be mostly cloudy to sunny, with scattered afternoon thunderstorms.

Temperatures across the island are expected to range from 32 to 35 degrees Celsius, with some localized areas in the north and center potentially reaching 36 degrees or higher. The high temperatures, combined with humidity, will make it feel muggy. The public is advised to be prepared for changing weather conditions, carry rain gear, and take precautions against strong ultraviolet radiation, especially around midday.

Looking ahead, the weather is expected to remain unstable for the coming week until the Pacific high-pressure system re-establishes itself. Air quality in most regions is rated as "good," with the northern region rated as "normal."
