Vestmannaeyjar is enjoying a bright and sunny day, with temperatures expected to reach up to 16 degrees Celsius this afternoon. However, the pleasant weather comes with brisk winds. Páll Ágúst Þórarinsson, a meteorologist at Veðurvaktin (The Weather Watch), told mbl.is that winds are currently between 10-12 meters per second and are forecast to strengthen slightly throughout the day and into the night.

Meanwhile, traffic heading towards Vestmannaeyjar and along the South Coast is becoming increasingly congested. Einar Sigurjónsson, chief superintendent with the South Iceland police, informed mbl.is that considerable delays are anticipated as the day wears on.

"The delays are greatest over the Ölfusárbrú bridge in Selfoss, and according to Einar, they are expected to increase further as the day progresses." He urged drivers heading east to use alternative routes if possible to help distribute the traffic flow.
