Sunsari curfew lifted, restrictions remain in place

The Sunsari administration has lifted a curfew that was in place in 10 local units of the district. However, a prohibitory order will remain in effect until 5 p.m. on Saturday. The curfew, imposed on July 28 due to violent clashes in Dewanganj, was lifted at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday after a review of the security situation. The prohibitory order aims to prevent any potential disturbances. This order, issued under the Local Administration Act, prohibits gatherings of more than five people, processions, demonstrations, assemblies, meetings, and sit-ins in designated areas. These restrictions apply to specific wards within Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City, Ramdhuni Municipality, Inaruwa Municipality, Duhabi Municipality, Bhokraha Narsingha Rural Municipality, Koshi Rural Municipality, Gadhi Rural Municipality, Dewanganj Rural Municipality, Harinagar Rural Municipality, and Barju Rural Municipality. The administration has called for full compliance from residents to ensure peace, public order, and communal harmony, warning that violations will be met with legal action.
