Super Falcons star alleges hotel staff stole $700 from her room

Super Falcons forward Esther Okoronkwo has accused cleaning staff at the Moroccan hotel where the Nigerian women's national football team camped of stealing money from players' rooms. Okoronkwo detailed the alleged thefts in a series of Snapchat posts, claiming that cash went missing while players were out and cleaners were tidying up.

The cleaning people stole the money. So they waited while we weren’t in the room to clean and steal the money.

Okoronkwo initially reported $500 missing from her belongings but later corrected the amount to $700. She also stated that several teammates were affected, including Halimatu Ayinde ($100), Asisat Oshoala ($100), and Joy Omewa (£120), with another player also losing an unspecified amount. The team reportedly confronted hotel staff, but Okoronkwo claimed they were met with disrespect and a lack of clear explanations.

The incident took place at a hotel in Casablanca, where the Super Falcons were preparing for the Women's Africa Cup of Nations. Okoronkwo urged teammates and followers to leave negative reviews for the hotel, describing her experience as poor and alleging staff theft. The team, preparing for their title defense in Morocco, was scheduled to depart for Rabat on Friday.
