Suri Cueva wins silver, Mexico closes Guadalajara Diving World Cup strongly

Suri Cueva captured a silver medal for Mexico in the final event of the Guadalajara Diving World Cup, delighting the home crowd at the Metropolitan Aquatic Center. The local diver capped a strong weekend performance, finishing second in the women's 10-meter platform competition.

She was only surpassed by the representative from China, who took gold with 369.40 points. Cueva's score of 310.03 points secured her the silver, edging out competitors from Canada and Germany. The Mexican diver displayed confidence throughout the finals, buoyed by the support of her family and the enthusiastic audience.

This silver medal holds special significance for Cueva, who had previously earned podium finishes in earlier events. Earlier the same day, her sisters, Mia and Lia Cueva, had also won gold medals for Mexico. Suri expressed her aspiration to compete alongside her sisters at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

"It is a dream to be able to win just as my sisters did. They inspire me, it was special to win in front of our family. The dream is to get there all three together to Los Angeles 2028," Cueva shared, visibly emotional. The event concluded with Mexico securing a total of 10 medals across the four days of competition. Samantha Jiménez of Mexico took the bronze medal with 302.15 points.
