Suspect Arrested After Pharmacy Break-in and Dangerous Chase

A pharmacy in downtown Reykjavik was broken into overnight, leading to a police pursuit. When officers arrived at the scene, the perpetrator had already fled in a vehicle.

Police initiated a chase, during which the alleged thief drove recklessly on roads and sidewalks. The pursuit concluded when the suspect stopped their vehicle on a pedestrian path in Fossvogur. The individual then attempted to escape on foot but was apprehended by law enforcement and taken into custody.

This incident was part of the police's activities between 5 p.m. yesterday and 5 a.m. today. The daily log also reported a traffic accident on a main road where both vehicles were rendered inoperable, though no injuries occurred. Suspicion quickly arose that both drivers were under the influence of alcohol, which was later confirmed. Both drivers were arrested and placed in a holding cell for investigation. Additionally, police spoke with youths climbing on a building roof, and two drivers were stopped for suspected drunk driving.
