Suspect in friend's murder also investigated for corpse desecration

South Korean police are investigating Jung Jae-hwan, 24, for alleged corpse desecration in addition to the murder charges for which he has already been arrested and sent for prosecution. The investigation into desecration follows a complaint filed by the victim's family.

The family claims that Jung desecrated the body after committing the murder. Jung is accused of fatally stabbing his 24-year-old friend with a knife at his residence in Hayang-eup, Gyeongsan-si, on the morning of the 4th, after drinking together. Immediately after the crime, Jung, naked and covered in blood, entered a nearby convenience store, drank milk without paying, and then wandered the streets before returning home, where he was arrested by police.

Regarding the motive for the crime, Jung has avoided specific statements, claiming he does not remember due to intoxication. A preliminary drug test administered to Jung came back negative. The Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency's new information disclosure committee had convened on the 10th.
