Suspect who shot PAF officer dead arrested within 9 hours: Islamabad IG

Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ali Nasir Rizvi announced the swift arrest of a suspect in the fatal shooting of a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) group captain, stating the individual was apprehended "within nine hours" of the incident.

The IG detailed that the PAF officer was killed when he intervened in an argument. The suspect, identified as Saad Abbasi, was attempting to force a woman, Nimrah, onto his motorcycle. The group captain, who was on his way to an official assignment, witnessed the altercation and stepped in to help the woman.

After picking her up today, Saad Abbasi wanted to take Nimrah to a park or some other location. The woman resisted, at which he had to stop the motorcycle […] at 9th Avenue.

According to Rizvi, the suspect and the woman both worked at a cash and carry outlet in the G-6 sector. The victim represented a cosmetics company, while the suspect was a representative for a frozen food brand. The incident reportedly began when Abbasi picked up Nimrah and wanted to take her to a park, but she resisted, insisting on going to her workplace.

During the confrontation, the suspect opened fire, fatally wounding the group captain. The police chief confirmed the suspect's arrest and provided details of the sequence of events leading up to the shooting.
