Suspected Accomplice Arrested in Femicide of Influencer Valeria Márquez

Jalisco state prosecutors announced the arrest of Iván Martín 'N', who is accused of being a material co-perpetrator in the femicide of influencer Valeria Márquez. The capture occurred on August 2, 2026, as part of ongoing investigations into the crime.

The arrest took place on August 1, 2026, during a search of a property in the San Juan de Ocotán neighborhood of Zapopan. The operation was conducted by the specialized Vice Prosecutor's Office for Women and Families, in collaboration with the Mexican Army and the National Guard.

Valeria Márquez, aged 23, was tragically murdered on May 13, 2025, in Zapopan. The attack occurred at her beauty salon while she was broadcasting live on her social media channels. A man entered the premises under the guise of delivering a package and fatally shot her in front of her phone's camera. Authorities determined that two vehicles, a motorcycle and a white car used for the escape, were involved in the attack. The perpetrators' route was traced using private and C5 surveillance cameras, as well as private video recordings.

During the search of the residence where Iván Martín 'N' was apprehended, authorities seized two firearms (.40 mm and 9 mm calibers), cell phones, and identification documents. Federal investigations indicate that the femicide was planned by organized crime elements. According to Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch, the victim's ex-partner, identified as Francisco 'N', is believed to be the intellectual author of the crime, having previously threatened Márquez. Francisco 'N' allegedly enlisted the support of his father, Ramón Ángel Álvarez Ayala, also known as 'El R1', who is reportedly a leader of a CJNG cell recently detained.
