Suspected convenience store robber arrested in Paraguay

Police in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay, have arrested a 21-year-old man identified as Andherson Alfredo Prieto Figueredo. He is suspected of robbing a minimarket on June 12 and was apprehended during an operation by the Regional Alto Paraná Investigation Department.

Figueredo faces multiple charges, including three arrest warrants for robbery, intentional homicide, and aggravated robbery. He also has two prior convictions for aggravated theft from 2023. Authorities found approximately 17.8 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 2.6 grams of marijuana, four cell phones, a 9mm bullet, and a bulletproof vest at his residence.

The arrest is linked to a June 12 robbery at the Ben Market convenience store, where two assailants stole about two million Paraguayan guaranis. Investigators used surveillance footage to identify the suspect. The operation was authorized by Judge Cinthia María Garcete, with prosecutor Osvaldo Zaracho present.
