Suspected cultists kill Lagos security guard

A security guard, known only as Stanley, was killed in a suspected cult attack in the Sangotedo area of Lagos on Friday. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. when assailants reportedly stormed Royale Estate and opened fire indiscriminately.

A source, who requested anonymity due to safety concerns, stated that the victim was shot multiple times, including in the head, before the attackers fled after firing shots into the air. Social media platforms also carried reports and videos alleging cult members were responsible for the attack.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the incident, with spokesperson SP Abimbola Adebisi reporting that two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle shot the victim. The command has initiated an investigation but has not yet identified any suspects.

This incident follows a similar killing of a security guard, Godwin, in the Abule Ijesha area of Yaba weeks prior, where assailants also used firearms and an axe.
