Suspected Drug-Impaired Driver Crashes Car in Luzhu District

A late-night car accident in the Dagushan area of Luzhu District, Taoyuan City, has led to the arrest of a 27-year-old driver suspected of drug-impaired driving. The incident occurred around 11:46 p.m. on July 20, 2026, when the driver, identified by the surname Chen, lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a roadside car before overturning.

Responding officers from the Waisha Police Station quickly arrived at the scene. A preliminary drug test administered to Chen revealed a positive result for benzodiazepines, classified as a third-class drug. This finding strongly suggests that Chen was under the influence of drugs while operating the vehicle, potentially causing the accident.

Following the positive drug test, Chen was taken to the Luzhu Police Precinct for questioning. He has since been transferred to the Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office to face charges related to endangering public safety. The Luzhu Police Precinct reiterated its commitment to strict enforcement against drug-impaired driving to ensure the safety of all road users.
